24/02/2018  England Athletics U15/U17 Indoor Champs, Lee Valley  details

Joe Purbrick continued his outstanding indoor season with a superb silver medal over the Under 15 Boys 60m hurdles in the national championships held in Sheffield. Joe finished a metre behind the winner with 8.60 secs. His time ranks him 2nd in the country, 17th all time in the U15B national rankings and was his 12th club record of this short indoor season. Joe travelled to Sheffield ranked 6th in the country with a best of 8.83 secs. In his qualifying heat, he ran 8.65 secs to set the stage for his silver medal winning effort. The day before, showing his versatility, Joe placed 5th in the U15B 60m final with 7.52 secs. To reach that point, Joe broke his own 7.53 secs club record twice with 7.51 in the heats followed by 7.49 in the semi final which ranks him 14th nationally. In the Under 17 Mens 60m, Julian Priest just failed to reach the final by an agonising 0.01 secs. Nevertheless, he did equal his club record of 7.18 secs in both his heat and semi-final. With another year to go in this age group and a current national rankings of 18th, Julian will make a bigger impact indoors in 2019.
